9 - Do NOT send your portfolio as an email attachment
Make a proper website and send the link; by sending your portfolio as an attachment, you're just asking to get junked. An additional benefit to having your portfolio on a website is that you can include a link to your portfolio on business cards, in case you meet somebody in real life.

He also mentions in point #1 that he's never heard of anybody losing a job because of a poor email subject, but if you send me an email with a generic subject like "Please Read", I can assure you that I'm not going to read it. On the top of your mind should be the question "What can I put in the subject line to assure the recipient that this isn't spam?"</description>
